Luke’s treatment involved 12 months of chemotherapy at Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske. Additionally he was treated at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, where he underwent an above knee amputation which he dealt with in a very mature manner, with great courage and inspirational attitude.
Despite Luke’s situation, Luke was determined to live life to the full including taking flying lessons and travelling to Paris for a family holiday. A proud moment for everyone was when Luke gave his aunty Linda away at her wedding in October 2011, as he wore his prosthetic leg and walked her down the aisle.
Luke touched many hearts and people will remember him for his wonderful qualities; strength, bravery, determination and his loving, happy nature.

As a family we had never heard of Osteosarcoma until Luke was diagnosed and through our experience have learnt that unfortunately this is also the case for many other families affected by primary bone cancer. For this reason, and with Luke’s backing, we established the Bone Cancer Awareness Trust.
